A Few Fun Decorations

This is a Black picture frame that I had laying around. I used my friend's Cricket cutting machine and the used ModgePodge to make the letters stick. You could also use vinyl letters. It is an easy holiday decoration.

Here is a block that I cut out. I got a large 6x2 board and used my circular saw to cut it to the desired length. I then spray painted the block and had a picture of the Boise LDS Temple printed as a 5x7 at Costco. I used ModgePodge to stick the picture on. Then I made fabric Flowers and hot glued them onto the dried block.

Our Family Silhouettes.
What I did here was I had a friend take a picture of each of our profiles and then I printed them out in black and white and cut as 3x5s. I cut out each of our silhouettes and the traced them onto a very thick black card stock. The I cut out the black card stock and mounted it onto some pretty paper. Then I hung it in these frames.

In this picture you can also see "The Meyer Family"  back stitch picture that I made.

Pillows!

I made some pillows for my living room recently and thought I'd share.

My inspiration was the lampshade that I purchased at Lowes.

I got this fabric at Hancock Fabric in Dothan, AL. I made some rosettes out of the same fabric. and placed 3 in diagonal corners.

The large pillow is made from a fabric I picked up at the Wal Mart in Ozark. I think that is compliments the blue well.

And of course the Doily pillow. I went to antique shops and yard sales to find the perfect one and ended up getting these at the Dollar Tree!!!! I made the pillow and then tacked on the doily with cream colored thread.

Henry thinks that the pillows are pretty great!

Kitchen Aid Cover

I love my Kitchen Aid! So to further profess my love and appreciation for it I decided to make it a beautiful cover to keep it safe and dust free.

I started out with picking out the fabric and setting some batting. I chose to use the same fabric that I used on my valance.
Next I used my Kitchen Aid as a guide. It was a little tricky to get the right fit, but I first cut out the two side pieces and then cut out the long middle piece.

Next I cut out the liner and batting to the same size as the first fabric.

Then sew all three pieces together. Top fabric, liner and batting.

Once you have sewn all of the pieces individually. You sew them together right side facing each other.

Next make your bias tape. You cut a piece to length and then fold it and iron it.

Sew the bias tape to the cover.

Finally, place it on your Kitchen Aid and enjoy the fresh look and dust free Kitchen Aid.

SInce I had some left over fabric I also made a cover for our tea pot.
